There is always a lot going on at the farm, and many ways in which you can get involved. You can learn new practical skills and get first hand experience of life on a farm and how to look after the animals.

Volunteering on the farm
The farm runs an adult volunteer scheme for people with an interest in animals or community gardening to help out on the site and at events that we hold throughout the year.
There is also a young volunteer scheme for 12 - 17 year
olds over the weekends and some school holidays.

Volunteers may help with all sorts of jobs at the farm:
• Feeding animals
• Mucking out
• Moving animals from houses to field
• Sweeping the yard
• Collecting eggs
• Grooming animals
• Gardening duties

And lots more! Not all the jobs are easy but they are all equally important to look after the farm for the animals and visitors.

♦ To become an adult volunteer or a community garden volunteer you will need to fill in a form which can be obtained by calling 0300 124 0123.    If you have any particular interests, you should state them on the form. There will be a small induction chat and taster day so you can get an idea of the work at the Farm.
♦ To become a young volunteer you will need to get a parent/carer to fill in a form and also attend an introductory meeting with the Farm Manager/Assistant Farm Manager. Junior Volunteer sessions run mainly at weekends in half-day blocks.  From 10am - 1pm and 1pm to 3.30pm or 4.30pm
.

Younger children (age 8 – 12) can take part in a ‘Be a Farmer’ or ‘Care for a Pony’ days - a chance to get close to the animals and to learn about the way the farm works. These days are a great way to keep active in the holidays and are held during the school holidays and half-term.
