East Ham Nature Reserve

Education Health & Wellbeing Leisure Centres Outdoors Sport Volunteering

East Ham Nature Reserve is a great place to discover more about nature. It is home to lots of different animals including birds, insects and lizards. There are really interesting plants here too – including trees that are over 100 years old.

The site is an important part of local history as it’s a churchyard which is one of the largest in London and includes St Mary Magdalene Church built in the year 1137.
Open every day, East Ham Nature Reserve can be explored by everyone – with different seasons of the year the appearance is always changing as plants and trees show their unique colours of flowers and leaves. Take a walk through the area to start exploring!

There are opportunities to get more involved with East Ham Nature Reserve by volunteering to help manage the site, (such as pruning or planting trees), or join in on one of the activities taking place at the reserve. We will also be launching our offer to schools very soon.

Go Wild! Family Club
Children of all ages and their families and carers are invited to join the free Go Wild! sessions at East Ham Nature Reserve.
