NEIGHBOURHOOD SPORTS PROGRAMME

Neighbourhood Sports Programme

If you are aged 8 to 18 years old and want to get into sport near where you live, then our Neighbourhood Sports Programme is just for you.

Most of the sessions are free and all are delivered by fully qualified coaches who can teach you about your favourite sport, improve your skills and give you the opportunity to take part in competitions. Whatever your ability, we will have something for you!

The Neighbourhood Sport Programme aims to address three main issues:

Anti-social behaviour by young people due to a lack of positive activities to participate in.
Unhealthy lifestyles due to poor access to facilities and opportunities.
Underperformance at school due to a lack of confidence and self-esteem.

We are planning a new programme of activities for 2018-19 with a range of sports such as basketball, boxing, cricket, football, rugby and tennis.

Satellite Clubs

Clubs are focused on supporting an increase in the number of 14-19-year olds participating regularly in physical activity and sport and are designed to reflect the likes and needs of teenagers and young adults in the local community.

Supported by or linked to a local sports club or physical activity opportunity (The Hub), satellite clubs are designed so that they respond to the specific demands for physical activity and sport from young people.

Satellite clubs should be designed to meet the needs of young people and provide a positive fun experience, giving young people the confidence to take part.
