Parks and Open Spaces:

Spending time outdoors in the park, in your local greenspace or at a community garden is great for your health and your wellbeing! activeNewham offers a fantastic outdoor activity programme utilising some of our fantastic parks and open spaces across the borough. From run clubs to community gardening to family fun days, there are many ways for you to make the most of being outdoors.

Our experienced field teachers and outdoor activity leaders are on hand delivering exciting community and educational workshops, nostalgia games sessions, Go Wild family activities and community events throughout the year. There is something for everyone; our activities are open to all ages and abilities and are a great way to get active, meet new people and get involved with your local community.

Plashet Park

Get Outdoors, Get Active, Get Social!

One of the boroughs busiest and most active parks, Plashet Park, hosts a full schedule of community activities, events and outdoor opportunities all year round. With support from HLF, activeNewham are working with the local community to deliver an activity programme that celebrates the heritage of this beautiful park and that can be enjoyed by all. East Ham Nature Reserve

East Ham Nature Reserve is one of Newham’s most exciting hidden treasures and we want to invite everyone to make the most of this amazing urban wilderness! This peaceful wildlife oasis surrounding St Mary Magdalene Church in East Ham is the perfect place to walk, explore and discover. Newham Community Gardens Network

Food growing projects all over Newham are getting people outdoors, getting their hands dirty and giving them a taste for fresh local food. From "have a go" activities and community food growing projects to school gardens and allotments, there is a whole range of ways you can join a network of people growing their own food.
