Whatever your age, Newham’s parks offer great opportunities to explore the outdoors and learn about the environment, local heritage and culture. With intergenerational activities to get everyone exploring together and specific sessions for groups and schools activeNewham can help you find activities to suit your learning needs.

Whether you want to organise a school or group visit, go on a park walk and talk or take a self-guided stroll along a tree trail, we have something to suit you.

• You can also book local parks  for school PE lessons or a school sports day.

What Can activeNewham Offer Your School?

Learning outside the classroom (LOTC) and learning in the natural environment (LINE) are powerful learning opportunities contributing to a range of outcomes that schools can incorporate into their programmes.
You don’t have to go far to experience the natural environment – outside in the school grounds or in a local park will help achieve benefits to learners. Environmental based education makes subjects rich and relevant and gets students excited about a whole host of curriculum topics. Hands-on contact with nature is not only essential for boosting kids' connection to the environment but is beneficial to mental health and wellbeing.

Currently our schools programme offers sessions with curriculum links for KS1 and KS2 across a range of topics, primarily based in East Ham Nature Reserve
